The Old '76 House (Mabie Tavern)
1755 tavern that held British spy Major Andre before his execution.
About The Old '76 House (Mabie Tavern)
Built in 1755 as the Mabie Tavern, the Old '76 House is one of America's oldest continuously operated taverns. It served as the holding cell for British Major John Andre after his 1780 capture and trial, before his execution on the hill above the village. Still operates as a working restaurant; the historic interior, fireplaces, and exhibits remain open to dining guests.
