About Major John Andre Monument
A stone monument marking the place where British Major John Andre was hanged on October 2, 1780, after being captured carrying plans of West Point that exposed Benedict Arnold's plan to surrender the fort to the British. Reachable by a short walk from the DeWint House and the village of Tappan.
