DeWint House

Rockland's oldest building -- George Washington's headquarters.

About DeWint House

Built in 1700, the DeWint House is the oldest standing structure in Rockland County and a National Historic Landmark. George Washington was a guest in 1780 (when he signed the death warrant for British Major John Andre) and again in 1783. Two restored first-floor rooms reflect the period of Washington's occupancy; the 19th-century carriage house displays artifacts uncovered on the grounds. Free admission.
