Question 1

Where can I find a pickup game in Rockland County?

Accepted Answer

Games people post on Rockland Connected are on the pickup board with the sport, the place and the time, and each sport page shows its own games plus the open gym hours that gyms and towns run. If the game you want is not there, post one: it takes a sport, a time and a place.

Question 2

How do pickup games on Rockland Connected work?

Accepted Answer

Anyone can browse. To post or join, you sign in and fill in a short Player Card. An organizer posts a game with open spots, you ask for a spot from the game page, and the organizer approves it. After the game, both sides confirm the result if they want it to count.

Question 3

Is it free to post or join a game?

Accepted Answer

Posting and joining on Rockland Connected is free. The place may not be: town parks in Clarkstown and Orangetown are for residents, and the JCC, the YMCA and the JTS Center charge non-members a day pass or guest fee. Each sport page says who can use each place.

Question 4

Do I need to be a resident to use town courts and gyms in Rockland?

Accepted Answer

For Clarkstown parks and community centers, yes, and the centers check an ID card. Orangetown parks take residents or holders of a $250 annual non-resident pass. Village parks, state parks, and the JCC, YMCA and JTS Center are open to anyone who pays their fee.

Question 5

Where is there open gym basketball or volleyball in Rockland County?

Accepted Answer

Basketball: the Lewis JCC in West Nyack daily, the Rockland County YMCA in Nyack on Thursday mornings, the Congers, Pascack and Central Nyack community centers on set nights for Clarkstown residents, and the JTS Center in Hillburn most evenings. Volleyball: Congers Community Center on Tuesday and Thursday nights and the JTS Center on Wednesday nights. The sport pages list each block with the date it was checked.

Question 6

What sports can I post a game for?

Accepted Answer

Fourteen presets: baseball, basketball, bowling, cornhole, flag football, golf, kickball, pickleball, running, soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball and wiffle ball, plus any sport you type in.

Question 7

Can kids play?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with limits that exist for good reason. Players 13 and under use a separate space with its own protections, and their games never publish an exact meetup address.
