Bear Mountain Inn's free Friday concert series is back for summer
Every Friday evening from late May through Labor Day weekend, Bear Mountain Inn opens its outdoor stage to live local music, food, and views that are hard to beat anywhere in the county.
The series kicks off May 29 and runs straight through September 4, landing on Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m. -- a window that catches the best of a summer evening at Bear Mountain. The next date on the calendar is June 12, so if you haven't made it out yet this season, you've got plenty of Fridays ahead.
Bear Mountain Inn sits just north of Rockland County proper, but it draws heavily from Nyack, Haverstraw, and the broader Hudson Valley crowd, and for good reason. The outdoor setting there -- stone lodge behind you, wooded ridgeline overhead -- gives a free concert a different weight than a parking-lot stage or a town green. The views alone justify the drive.
The music leans accessible: folk, soft rock, pop, and funk from local and regional musicians rotating through each week. It's not a single headliner event you have to plan around -- it's a standing weekly appointment that fits around the end of a workday. Bring your own mood and the Inn supplies the backdrop.
This kind of low-commitment, no-ticket-required outdoor series is genuinely useful for families trying to get outside more, for couples looking for something that doesn't require a reservation, and for people newer to the county who haven't yet made the trip up Route 9W toward the park. The food and drink options on site mean you don't need to plan dinner separately.
The run through Labor Day weekend gives the series a satisfying arc -- something to anchor summer Fridays around rather than a one-off to add to a calendar and forget. See the full listing for details on the lineup and anything else you'd want before heading up.
