Back-to-school season — classes, clubs, and after-school

The buses are back, the calendars reset, and Rockland's after-school scene is in full swing. This issue is our shortlist of where to send the kids — and a few places adults can sign up for, too.

New classes worth signing up for

A few we're especially excited about. The full directory lives on the classes page.

• Mountainview Yoga (Suffern) — teen drop-ins on Wednesdays, free to anyone under 18 the first month.
• Rockland Pottery Studio (Nyack) — six-week beginner wheel classes, Tuesday evenings. Last fall's session sold out in a week.
• Hudson Valley Music Lab (Nanuet) — group guitar for kids 8–13, no instrument required.

Clubs taking new members

If your kid is looking for a new circle — or you are — these groups are open for the fall.

• Rockland Book Club — meets second Thursdays at the Nyack Library. Currently reading James.
• Pearl River Running Club — Sunday morning long runs, all paces welcome.
• County Chess Club — rotating between libraries; Saturdays.
