Every town has a place like this, and New City's sits right on Main Street. New City Bowl & Batting Cages keeps its pitch simple: first dates, birthday parties, corporate events, league nights — enough fun under one roof to make the visit memorable. It's a formula, but it's one New City keeps coming back to.

The bones of the place are serious. The center runs 24 lanes, USBC Sport Certified, and its bowling leagues run year-round for every age and skill level — from seasoned bowlers in sanctioned leagues to casual players who are just out to have fun. Between frames there's plenty else to do: an arcade, pool tables, and dart boards, plus a pro shop that sells bowling balls and shoes.

For families, the details are what matter. Bumpers keep the youngest bowlers in the game. Macaroni KID Rockland's family guide notes the center's specialty: easy, stress-free parties for both children and adults, with open bowling on both weekdays and weekends. And from April through the beginning of November, the outdoor batting cages open for the season.

Nobody goes hungry, either. The snack bar runs an All American menu — pizza, burgers, appetizers — and the bar pours drinks. It all stays easy on the wallet: weekday daytime games run $6.50 for seniors, $7.50 for juniors, and $8.00 for adults, with $8 games in the evenings and on weekends, and $6.75 shoe rentals. (All bowlers must wear bowling shoes.)

Timing matters right now: the center says it is currently taking reservations for holiday parties. Hours are Monday 3pm–11pm, Tuesday 3pm–11pm, Wednesday 12pm–12am, Thursday 11:30am–12am, Friday 10am–closing, Saturday 12pm–closing, and Sunday 12pm–8pm — but open lanes aren't guaranteed during those hours, so call ahead at 845-634-4977 for availability.

You'll find it at 90 N Main Street in New City — and if you're already thinking about the holidays, gift certificates for bowling games and batting cage tokens are available too.
