Local business
The Rockland native behind Man in Motion wants to know what someone hopes to get back to doing. Their goals, interests and past injuries help him understand why they’ve come to see him and where to begin. “I’ll sit them down, talk to them, get to know about them, their goals, their interests,” he explains. His physical therapy practice operates outside Rockland, though his connection to the county brought him into our Local Spotlight. He describes an approach that moves from conversation into assessing posture, mobility, range of motion and strength. What he learns about the person informs the work that follows. There’s a conversational quality to how he works. He explains what he notices, talks through his choices and gives someone time to try an adjustment. During our visit, that meant discussing positioning and changing a squat variation, with short instructions along the way. His attention stayed on the person doing the movement and how they responded. He brings some playfulness to that process, too. An unexpected invitation to shimmy offered a glimpse of the person behind the practice: focused on the work, but comfortable keeping the interaction informal. For someone getting acquainted with Man in Motion, his explanation of the first appointment is a useful introduction. He wants to hear their history, understand their interests and find out what they’re working toward. Connect with Man in Motion at @man_in_motion_pt: https://www.instagram.com/man_in_motion_pt/.
