Drawing in Color (Advanced Beginner—Advanced)

About this class

Colored pencils are a rich, flexible medium. This class provides an exciting and innovative environment for the exploration of non-toxic, water-soluble colored pencils. The fundamentals and technical aspects of rendering in color will be explained. We will investigate line, color and space through interactive, individual- and group-oriented drawing exercises designed for expressions, not frustration. Emphasis is placed on developing your application of this medium. This class is designed for all levels of experience and proficiency. Beginners welcome. Join us! A materials list will be sent upon registration.

Each session will include a demonstration based on a photo as well as individual instruction. Students may follow along using the provided photo reference, or work on their own projects. This class is for all levels (drawing and painting experience a plus) and all media. Learn how to add a dynamic quality to your paintings with the understanding of abstraction. Compose your work by breaking images down to the most abstract elements. Understand plasticity, push and pull, and how color can work for you. Students will learn to use color and compose using a still life. We will also view and discuss many of the artists in history who have left glorious examples for us to study and enjoy. Materials: all materials welcome. Registration for the Class begins Fri., August 7 at 10am.
