
About Major Welch Trail
A steep but short 2.4-mile loop summiting Bear Mountain via the Major Welch Trail. Starts near the Bear Mountain Inn and Hessian Lake, climbs about 1,160 feet to Perkins Memorial Tower at the summit, and descends back via the paved Perkins Drive or the Appalachian Trail. Famous for some of the best Hudson Highlands views in the region.
