Harriman State Park is New York's second-largest state park, spanning 47,000 acres with more than 200 miles of hiking trails and 31 lakes and reservoirs. Beaches at Lake Welch and Lake Tiorati offer swimming, while the park also supports fishing, boating, and cross-country skiing, making it a true year-round destination. The Appalachian Trail was first opened here in 1923, adding a piece of history to every hike. Campgrounds, picnic areas, restrooms, and parking are available, and the park is dog-friendly. Several trailheads are accessible from Rockland's western edge, with entry points near Sloatsburg, Tomkins Cove, and Stony Point.
