Ramona’s Cafe Gives Breakfast a Little Personality

The breakfast menu at Ramona’s Cafe has a sense of humor. Its Moonstruck Eggs come with a nod to Cher; a few lines down, pancakes invoke Mom. Before anyone places an order, the page has already given this West Nyack cafe a voice.

The details beneath those names make the case for looking closer. The posted menu describes eggs cooked into slices of Italian bread, accompanied by roasted red peppers and spinach. Another breakfast pairs shredded pernil with poached eggs, rice and grilled pineapple. There are familiar starting points here, but also combinations that might persuade someone to stray from their usual order.

Ramona’s describes itself as a family-run business serving traditional family recipes. It opened in 2017 at 11 Strawtown Road. Patch’s coverage that August placed the new cafe behind the Clarksville Inn, at the historic cluster of buildings known as Clarksville Corners, and reported that Ramona Vitale and her family attended the opening reception.

That history gives the menu a setting: a relatively recent business becoming part of an older corner of West Nyack. The cafe does not have to lean on the surroundings alone to establish a character of its own.

Lunch carries the same interest in small variations. On the posted menu, grilled cheese brings together Brie, a baguette and apricot preserves. A separate ham-and-Brie sandwich adds pear, greens and honey mustard. The appeal on paper is in those extra choices—the fruit alongside the cheese, the familiar sandwich given another direction.

The room’s scale is worth planning around. Ramona’s reservation page says parties are limited to six and invites guests to call 30 minutes before arriving to reserve a table.

For a breakfast or lunch with a few people, that makes Ramona’s an interesting local possibility: an intimate setting, a documented family beginning, and a menu with enough personality to start the conversation.
