One revealing detail about Modern Druid has little to do with what it sells. In May 2022, Patch reported that its owner, Morgana, volunteered to work with graphic designer Scott Hodgson on a map of Nyack’s business district. A shop with such a particular identity was helping people find their way around the whole village.
That outward-looking gesture is a useful introduction to the business at 60 South Broadway. Modern Druid brings together a store, art gallery and spiritual gatherings, giving a personal interest several ways to become part of neighborhood life.
The story starts with Morgana Brennan’s own curiosity. An April 2024 Rockland County Times profile traced the business to her study of Ogham through the Irish Pagan School. Brennan, who moved from Dublin to New York in 1992, developed 20 oil blends corresponding to the symbols she had studied. That project became the starting point for a shop whose offerings grew well beyond oils.
Its current website lists candles, oracle and tarot decks, and wearable art alongside workshops and a monthly Druid Roundtable. Taken together, those offerings suggest a business built around participation as much as purchases: something to browse, something to discuss, and a reason to return with a question.
Art provides another way into that world. The gallery’s website features original works and prints, with an interest in nature and darker imagery. Its page introduces Melissa Markley’s Memento Mori series through the seasons and elements. The work gives the shop’s themes a visual vocabulary, making room for an encounter with art alongside its ritual objects.
For someone discovering Modern Druid, that combination is the interesting part. A candle, a print and a conversation can each offer a different entry point into the same creative sensibility.
The village map offers a fitting way to understand the larger picture. Modern Druid has built a place around its owner’s interests while contributing to the neighborhood beyond its own doorway. Nyack gains both an individual voice and another reason to explore South Broadway.
